Bill O’Reilly, host of FOX News’ the O’Reilly Factor, has been telling his viewers lie after lie about America’s epidemic of homeless veterans.

First, he denied that homeless veterans even existed as he attacked former presidential candidate John Edwards for correctly stating that there are over 200,000 veterans without homes on any given night in America. When Edwards said that these vets would have to sleep on the streets or under bridges, O’Reilly said, ³The only thing sleeping under a bridge is that guy¹s [Edwards¹] brain.²

O’Reilly continued by claiming that his staff could not find a single homeless vet sleeping under a bridge, later saying that homeless vets ³may be out there, but there¹s not many of them out there.²

O’Reilly also blamed homeless vets for their own homelessness, claiming that homeless vets with substance abuse problems “don’t want to be rehabbed” and are homeless and addicted by choice.

In response to these statements, Brave New Films released an online video, FOX ATTACKS! ³Non-Existent² Veterans, where several homeless vets refuted O¹Reilly¹s claims about them. To date, the video has received over 120,000 views and the accompanying petition asking O¹Reilly to apologize to homeless veterans has to date received almost 19,000 signatures.

But when a group of vets from Fitzgerald House, an organization that provides transitional housing to homeless vets, attempted to deliver the petition, they were harassed by one of O’Reilly’s producers, then personally attacked the following night on O’Reilly’s show using misinformation and lies, despite the fact that O’Reilly never disputed any of their claims.
