BIO

Robin Laverne Wilson
I am a hunter/gatherer of art, media and information; their intersection is my Zen. Since arriving in the NYC Metro from San Antonio in 2003, I have performed off-Broadway, been an artist-in-residence at Tribeca Performing Arts Center, and am now a magna cum laude profile alum of Rutgers-Newark University. I interned at The New York Pops, New Line Cinema, The Brooklyn Underground Film Festival, and VH1. I also collaborate with Robert Greenwald’s Brave New Films as an independent field producer.
I’ve also had opportunities over the years to study with distinguished writers and artists, including Edin Velez, Sandra Cisneros, Linda Montano, Michael Ray Charles, H. Bruce Franklin, and Robert Snyder. Through my interdisciplinary degree [media arts and business] and honors college thesis, I launched my production company, New Growth Media, with several projects under development.
My mission is to create witty, succinct, entertaining yet intellectually stimulating media. To participate in the instigation of groundswell movement that challenges the status quo. Issues that bring out this passion include culture, art, social justice, peace and veterans affairs, the environment, and other enlightened and progressive concerns. My work appeals to the heart and highest common denominator. Funky as he is, Gil was wrong — The revolution must and will be televised.
I’ve been acknowledged by my alma mater as one of the university-wide profile graduates for the Class of 2008 for my unique approach to my degree and the work I’ve done my final two semester to develop New Growth Media. I think that’s pretty cool.
